Common mistakes
-
Incomplete Applicant Information: One common mistake is failing to fill out all required fields in the applicant information section. This includes the name of the vehicle owner, daytime phone number, mailing address, and county of residence. Each of these details is crucial for processing the application efficiently.
-
Incorrect Vehicle Details: Applicants often overlook the importance of accurately entering the vehicle's year, make, and Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Providing incorrect information can lead to delays or even rejection of the application.
-
Improper Payment Method: Sending cash is discouraged. Many applicants mistakenly send cash instead of using a cashier’s check, money order, or personal check. This can complicate the processing of the application and may result in a loss of funds.
-
Personalized Plate Selection Errors: When selecting a personalized license plate, applicants sometimes choose a combination of letters or numbers that is already in use or deemed offensive. It is essential to review the guidelines carefully to avoid this mistake, as it can lead to denial of the plate request.
