Common mistakes
-
Leaving Sections Blank:
One common mistake is failing to fill out every section of the grievance form. Each part is essential for processing your complaint. If you don’t know an answer, simply write “I don’t know.”
-
Not Contacting CAAP:
Many people skip the step of contacting the Client-Attorney Assistance Program (CAAP) before filing a grievance. This program can often resolve issues more quickly and informally.
-
Incorrect Attorney Information:
Some individuals mistakenly provide incomplete or incorrect information about the attorney they are filing against. Ensure you include the attorney's full name, address, and contact details.
-
Missing Supporting Documents:
Failing to attach relevant documents can weaken your grievance. If you have contracts, receipts, or letters that support your claims, make sure to include copies.
-
Ignoring Impairment Details:
When alleging that an attorney has an impairment, it’s crucial to provide specific observations. Vague statements won’t help your case. Include dates, times, and locations of your observations.
Key takeaways
